The Incorporation of Radioactive Sulfur into Thiamine by Saccharomyces Cerevisiae.

چکیده
The biosynthesis of thiamine has been believed to be accomplished with the initial formation of the pyrimidine and thiazole moieties by independent routes, followed by a final step in which pyrimidine and thiazole are jointed together to form thiamine. Recently, Nose (1-3), Brown (4-7), and Leder (8, 9) separated the enzyme system from cell-free extracts of bakers' yeast which is capable of synthesizing thiamine from

Genetic analysis of a new mutation conferring cysteine auxotrophy in Saccharomyces cerevisiae: updating of the sulfur metabolism pathway.
We have identified a mutation in a gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, STR1, that leads to a strict nutritional requirement for cysteine. The str1-1 mutation decreases to an undetectable level the cystathionine gamma-lyase activity. This enzyme catalyzes one of the two reactions involved in the transsulfuration pathway that yields cysteine from homocysteine with the intermediary formation of cyst...
متن کاملThiamine increases expression of yeast gene.
We found that CPY production in Saccharomyces cerevisiae KS58-2D/pCY303 was increased by the addition of thiamine into the medium, while the addition of thiamine had no effect on cell growth. It became clear that the positive effect of thiamine was due to transcriptional increase, because the levels of CPYmRNA were increased according to the amount of thiamine added. Furthermore, it was suggest...
متن کاملP-18: Protective Effect of Selenium- Enriched Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Cytoplasm and Cell Wall on Chronic Immobilization Stress-Induced Damages in Testis; Evidence for Apoptosis
Background Previous reports showed that immobilization stress (IMS) results in severe damages at spermatogenesis level. Present study was performed in order to evaluate the protective effect of selenium-enriched yeast fragments on IMS-induced derangements. MaterialsAndMethods For this purpose, 42 mature male Wister rats were assigned into 6 groups (7 rats in each group) including; control, stre...
متن کاملInhibition of thiamine transport in Saccharomyces cerevisiae by thiamine disulfides.
Both thiamine disulfide and O-benzoyl thiamine disulfide, which are thiolfrom derivatives of thiamine, strongly inhibited thiamine transport in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The inhibition appeared to be due to a high affinity of the analogs for yeast cell membranes, in which thiamine transport component(s) may be integrated.
متن کاملThiamine transport in Saccharomyces cerevisiae protoplasts.
Thiamine was found to be accumulated in protoplasts of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in the same manner as in intact cells, suggesting that a soluble thiamine-binding protein in periplasm may not be an essential component of the thiamine transport system of S. cerevisiae. It was also found that thiamine pyrophosphate cannot be taken up by yeast protoplasts.
